How to Apply for a California Contractors License:
1.
Certification of experience:
You will need someone that has first hand knowledge of your experience to certify you (page 11 of the application)
The person certifying you can be your boss, a supervisor, union rep or business associate. It is highly preferred that this person be a licensed contractor.
2.
State Fees:
$450 if you’re applying for an original license
$230 if you’re already a contractor and are applying for an additional classification license

Filling out your application:
Your application must be typed or printed clearly in dark ink
You must answer all questions or mark n/a if it does not apply to you
You must include any supporting documentation where indicated
You must mail your application to the P.O. Box listed on the application
You must include a check or money order for applicable fees
